Forward and up Alexander Technique
Wiesje Miedema, violist "Besides me, as a pupil of Noortje, many of my violin pupils do benefit from the Alexander Technique as well. This is because Noortje gave a workshop for my pupils in the Music school in Amstelveen. By means of exercises, group games and individual attention the young violinists became aware of the fact that the way you use your body has not only an influence on the ease in playing but on the sound you produce as well. For some of them this was a real eye-opener. Since I was there, watching and listening to what changed, and thanks to my own Alexander Technique lessons, my understanding of what needs to happen to let someone play with ease is increasing. Actually, often it is enough to remind them of the workshop. But when there are serious problems, of course I refer them!"
